Objective

SeaBear tasked Pure Strategic with the responsibility of designing a new online experience, compatible across all current devices and platforms, that would present a fresh and alluring face to new audiences while remaining familiar to existing customers. It was essential to highlight SeaBear’s heritage and call out the quality and authenticity of their products that only a genuine smokehouse could offer.

DISCOVERY

Through our discovery process, we identified SeaBear’s rich heritage and on-location authentic smokehouse as valuable focal points that needed to be communicated to our online visitors. Additionally, SeaBears products offered a premium seafood culinary experience that was unique, prestigious, and available to everyone. We also identified that their current mobile experience was falling short.

STRATEGY

Leveraging SeaBear’s amazing story and heritage, its commitment to quality, and its delivery of a true smokehouse experience to everyone across the US, we got to work on a look and feel that spoke in an authentic and genuine way to both existing and new customers. We aimed to highlight SeaBear’s attributes and provide a painless shopping experience for all customers.

Tactics

  • We kicked this redesign project off with mood boards to solidify the brand’s evolutionary direction
  • Designed comps of each page layout to determine the most effective layouts for user experience on all device sizes
  • Condensed the styling of all call-to-action buttons to keep the consumer flow clear & efficient
  • Streamlined the design of the cart and checkout process to allow for smooth transactions
  • Custom developed Shopify theme from the bottom up, focusing on optimized performance and a smooth user experience for both customers and administrators
  • Built advanced shipping rules to manage specific shipping requirements for different classes of products
  • Integrated additional cart attributes for a simplified gift giving and future ship UI
  • Expanded filtering & search features with advanced card generation and easily customized filter trees.
  • Assisted in data management and migration services from previous platform to Shopify

Through this project Pure Strategic began working with SeaBear to add to their bank of food photography, helping to build upon a long-standing brand asset.

Results

With an official launch date of July 1, 2021, SeaBear saw an increase in page views, engagement, and revenue within the first 30 days of launch. With the mobile-first design approach, their mobile metrics also saw significant increase across the board.
